Victory via assassination
This game was the best way to start out an exciting day. I came in with my brand new list having just built the third unit of Mage Hunter Strike Force and Rayvn herself the night before. It was a very strange match up because I knew to fear the Fiora Feat but luckily a lot of fire just didnt stick and I was able to pick off key models and after losing almost a whole unit of Strike Force to Zealots turn 2 wiped the unit and the bastions on the opposite flank. The rest of the game was keeping Flameguard off of me and picking more key solos until an opportunity to assassinate Fiora revealed itself and Rayvn was able to clinch the win for me herself.
GAME 2
Butcher3
Behemoth
Devastator
War Dog
Black Dragon IFP
IF Kovnik
Winterguard Infantry w/ UA, 1 WA
Kovnik Joe
eEiryss
Ogrun Bokur
Madelyn Corbeau
Turn 2 loss via assassination
After game 1 with Rayvn I was feeling more confident but I knew to fear Butcher....Having played the matchup with my Kaelyssa list I figured I would drop Rayvn once again and see if she would do any better. She did. I put a good amount of damage on to Butcher top of turn two but I was unable to finish him. RIP Rayvn, Butcher is bruuuutal but honestly I think hes a really cool caster.
GAME 3
PResnik
Hierophant
Rekoner x2
Templar
Vassal of menoth
Vassalof menoth
Wracks
Bastion Seneschal
Choir min
Max bastion
Max zelots w UA

Turn 2 victory via assassination
Rayvn once again! I love this list it's so much fun to play! Both lists I was looking at were fairly low model count which leaves more holes for assassination attempts although I will admit that Passage is super annoying when my list has no access to magical weapons, I miss Aiyana. In this matchup though I had a lot of opportunity for assassination and snipe-feat-go did its work marvelously getting me a win bottom of turn 2.
GAME 4
Rhyas, Sigil of Everblight
- Succubus
- Typhon
- Scythean
- Seraph
Blighted Nyss Shepherd
Blighted Nyss Swordsmen
- Blighted Nyss Swordsman Abbot & Champion
Blighted Ogrun Warspears
- Warspear Chieftan
Blighted Ogrun Warmongers
Turn 3 loss via assassination
This game was weird, turn 2 was a comedy of errors on both sides, a wet noodle fight as we both botched a million almost certain rolls. It was funny to watch but put me in a really bad spot as Rhyas teir gave everything stealth turn one and turn two I couldn't do anything to avoid getting eaten by alot of terrifying Ogrun failing a bunch of morale checks hurt although I did have my sentinels take out Typhon and almost finish off the Seraph. Boardstate slipped out of my grasp quickly and Kaelyssa was taken out bottom of turn 3 after a last ditch assassination attempt on Rhyas herself.
GAME 5
Madrak Chieftan
Runebearer
Mulg
Rok
Earthborn
Axer
Bouncer
Whelps
Janissa Stonetide
Krielstone
-Elder
Turn 2 loss assassination
Kaelyssa and I were not ready for a lone Axer to charge so far and kill so much...half of my strike force and almost all of my sentinels were wiped out thanks to a rush and Madraks vicious feat turn and although I was able to kill the Axer I was left with not much of an army left and a whole blob of beasts staring me down. Ouch.
At the end of the day:
So 2-3 I accept that all 5 games were very fun and I learned plenty about some new factions/casters. First game against trolls and although I know about Rhyas I had no idea what she was actually capable of so it was really fun to see all these new things. It was also the first time playing the Rayvn 30 Mage Hunters list and wow its pretty mean! It was a bit of an eye opening experience to play a list like this and compare it to my Kaelyssa list. It was my first time being able to switch up games depending on the matchup and honestly there isn't much I was really getting from the pairing. Back to my War Room dojo!
I would like to thank all of my opponents and everyone who participated/organized the tournament. It was a great experience and you were all awesome! Round of applause for all of you!

How to schedule

One small step...
So with a tournament under my belt I return to my happy place, the internet. So heres a breakdown of the day for me!
Two lists was an option but I only have one caster so one list it is! I spent a lot of time learning the ins and outs of this list to prepare myself for the tournament and was feeling pretty comfortable with it. Here it is my 50 point tournament list!
Kaelyssa
- Sylys Wyshnalyrr
- Banshee
- Phoenix
Arcanist
Arcanist
Eiryss, Angel of Retribution
Lady Aiyana & Master Holt
Stormfall Archers
Dawnguard Sentinels
- Sentinel Officer & Standard
Mage Hunter Strike Force
- Strike Force Commander
GAME 1
PSorcha
Behemoth
Sylys
Kell
Alexia 1
Reinholdt
Cylena and nyss
Aiyana and holt
Dougal
Greatbears
Widowmakers
Widowmaker marksman
Eiryss 19
Gorman
Loss via assassination
I went into this game knowing there was going to be alot of shots against me and knowing Sorchas feat would be painful. What I wasn't ready for was Sorchas threaf range! Top of turn 2 she windrushed forward and charged my phoenix then popped feat. The rest of the turn was spent shooting a stationary Kaelyssa off the table. Apparently this list is called "Oceans" and I won't lie it was really interesting and really effective. I'd love to try my hand against Oceans again and lucky for me the guy I played against is in my area!
GAME 2
Kaelyssa
Hydra
Hydra
Manticore
Phoenix
Invictors w/UA
-Griffon
MHA
Arcanist
Ghost Sniper
Win via assassination
The awkward mirrored caster game. Turn 1 was a standard move into position. Turn 2 Eiryss kills the ghost sniper Aiyanna harms the Invictors, Sylys whispers some secrets to Kaelyssa and she drops the nastiest rift on the Invictors (Ouch). Stormfalls take out the rest and mage hunters sit just outside of reach of his line of jacks. A few die but not enough and turn three Banshee knocks down Dark Kaelyssa and all guns point at her for the victory.
GAME 3
Issy tier4
-Phoenix
Sylys
Sentinels max ua
Sentinels max ua free
Invictors max ua
Riflemen max
Arcanist
Arcanist
Houseguard thane
So Ret v Ret again dark days for the elves. Some Goreshade voodoo at work here no doubt. This game was really scary for me and my opponent chose to go second making my feat somewhat useless. Turn 1 run. Turn 2 I feat and try to trim down alot of his ranged threats and not touching his sentinels knowing he at least cant charge. Issys feat hits back and ouch my infantry is not in good shape but I have some threats left and some incoming Sentinel Vengeance. Everything that can blasts a hole through some screening infantry guns at Issy cant do it so holding the banner high my 4 remaining sentinels charge and manage to get the job done.
GAME 4
Pskarre
Helldiver x2
Deathripper
Skarlock
Necrotech & scrapthrall
Full bloodwitchs + ua
Full raiders+ua
Raider captain x2
Full bane knights
Bane Lord Tartarus
Pistol wraith x2
Warwitch siren
All the marbles for a possible third place for my opponent and I. Now throughout the day my opponent and I had been chatting about gaming during breaks and his girlfriend and I bonded over our love of cats so I have to say that this game was totally unavoidable and I had been looking forward to it. Well here we go! Turn 1 Raiders well past the middle of the board with banes and bloodwitches on either side. Spooky ghoooosts! I lob a bunch of shots into them and a few into the bane knights and pop feat turn 1. Turn 2 Skarre feats, the surviving Raider jam my sentinels up and minifeat killing a good number of them. I retaliate as hard as possible killing a large number of bane knights having my banshee gum up a whole flank with his wailing (which is a beautiful ability) but the war of attrition is lost so I go for a hail mary assassination attempt leaving Skarre on 5 health but Kaelyssa now in the middle of her army. RIP Kaelyssa
Loss via assassination!
Well at the end of the day I left 2-2 which is much better than the 0-4 i had been expecting. I would say seeing the opportunity to place top 3 and losing it had a strangely positive effect on me becuse now I just cannot wait to try again. Thank you to everyone who came out to play and hang out you all made my first tournament a memorable experience and I look forward to seeing you all in the future!
What I learned:
Knowledge is power! I have my factions units memorized and at least have a vague idea of other factions units do. I think the two games I won being against other Retribution players says a lot. I'm very familiar with our units and how our casters affect their use. I am not nearly as comfortable sitting across from other factions. Learning how other casters affect units use can only help win you games. Play against things you know the least to broaden your pool of knowledge!

Scyrahs Maiden Voyage and some flashy stuff
So it is officially begining now, I have been dragged into my first Warmachine tournament this coming Saturday. Thank Scyrah my models are allowed to be unpainted or I'd be in for a rough 2 days. I'll only be bringing one list led by my favorite (read: only) caster Kaelyssa, Nights Whisper. So far my plan has been to pick up a new unit plus any unit attachments or solos on a weekly or bi weekly schedule. I spend the week building lists incorporating that unit into my lists to get a feel for what it can do on the table. After I pick up the houseguard riflemen and halberdiers I'll be picking up new casters so if you have any Retribution casters you'd like to see more of feel free to let me know in the comments section below!
Well in other news....I would be posting some pictures of my half painted and primed units but I had a thought that lead me to another project. I would like you give you my dear readers the highest quality posts and pictures I can so why not make a lightbox? So the day shall be spent making a lightbox, avoiding the noxious fumes of primer, painting a blob of mage hunter strike force and marking my front arcs. It may turn into a very hectic few days but expect to be hearing from me again soon!

Eat, Sleep, Paint, Play!
A bit about my background in gaming. I played warhammer fantasy as a youngling picked up a Lizardmen army around the age of 12 and that was the begining of the end for me. I was hooked. From there I've hopped to 40k and Malifaux as a henchman before ending up with the game I'm playing now and where I'll begin my adventures: Warmachine playing the angry elves or Retribution of Scyrah.
I do intend to put most of my focus on Warmachine as I strive to join the tournament scene and will be posting plenty of battle reports I will also post reviews, opinions and updates from other games as well as some battle reports from time to time.
What you can expect:
Battle reports from all your favorite games
Information on new and upcoming releases
Breakdowns of current factions/armies/clan/guilds (you get the idea)
Painting logs! At worst learn from my mistakes at best laugh at em!
If you have a game you like to see me play feel free to message me or vote on the poll above!
